Carmine Skimmer (Orthemis discolor)

Other Common Names: Orange-bellied Skimmer

 

Orthemis discolor is found in the Americas, from Texas and Arizona to southeastern Brazil. This species is found primarily around small wetlands and temporary pools with abundant shade. It is brilliant pink, sometimes purplish, with bright red eyes and face. O. discolor flies year-round in tropics.
